World’s Heaviest and Largest Jet: Antonov

Antonov or AN-225 is not a Missile but the world’s heaviest and largest aircraft built-ever. Flying / walking on the landing gear arrangement of 32 wheels and a wing span of 291 feet, this is a state-of-the-art masterpiece.


Designed in 1988 for the Soviet space program, the plane can carry the Energia rocket’s boosters, Buran space shuttle or ultra-heavy and oversize freight, up to 250,000 kg (550,000 lb) on the lower portion and 200,000 kg (440,000 lb) on the upper fuselage.
The cargo to be carried on the upper fuselage is restricted to 70 m long. Jump on for more pix:
