Vertical Bathroom to Clear Space Crunch!
Posted in Bath Accessories on 5 October 2008

Vertical Bathroom
Bathing is a luxury in itself but if your cubby hole bathroom denies you to have a lavish wash, there is good news for you.Evidently inspired by the Swiss army penknife, the world’s first fold-up vertical bathroom is here to blow your minds away. Called the Vertebrae, it stacks a toilet, sink, water cistern and two showers into one 8ft-tall steel column. Award-winning designer Paul Hernon improvised The Vertebrae considering the space-conscious householders who struggle to fit a traditional shower, sink and toilet into their bathroom space.
Designed to utilize vertical space instead of horizontal floor space it is an intriguing but functional and simplistic space-saving bathroom by stacking the contents of a bathroom on top of one another. With two showers built-in, both of which rotate 180 degrees, one is for adults and one for children. Rest of the unit rotates a full 360 degrees twisting around a steel column which conceals the piping, and each part can simply be pushed out when required.

But be warned as the Vertebrae - named after the human spine - weighs 150 kilos and householders might have to reinforce their bathroom floor before fitting it. Expected to go on sale in the New Year with a price tag of £9,000($16,000), the feasible idea, though with the initial credit crunch, could be a hit.

Luxury Bathing TECHnified!
Posted in Bath Accessories, Gadgets, Luxury, Technology on 30 September 2008

Nothing refreshes you more than a warm shower after a tiring day, or just a lazy dip in that tub on a lazy day to pamper yourself. One can consider bathing a luxury in itself and no wonder, with all those lavish and designer bath rooms that keep coming up, it certainly is.

And with bathroom getting techno makeovers there is more on the offing. With ‘The Bathomatic’ you can add another score on the board for “wired” bathrooms being the newest home trend. It is a fully automated digital bath filler that allows you to fill up your bathtub remotely, even going so far as to let you control the depth, temperature and what fragrances or bubbles you want floating in it when you get home.

The Bathomatic’s filling process is controlled by a microprocessor. It can be installed in any tub, new or retro-fitted, by any plumber. The ability to operate its system from an iPhone is a feature added recently by Bathomatic. The entire Bathomatic system’s price starts from £5,500 (9,900 USD) for the basic package. If you can have these automatic fragrant bubble baths, you must be a Princess or a Prince. Only if I were one! How I love to bathe. Sigh!

Kohler Fountainhead VibrAcoustic Bath Offers a Majestic Experience
Posted in Bath Accessories, Designer, Luxury on 6 September 2008

Kohler Fountainhead

The way the majestic mugals bathed in luxury five hundred years back is still unmatched. The specially designed hamams were filled with rose essence and the temperature of water was controlled by falling it over a wall heated by lighting thousands of candles. They understood that bathing is not just a matter of hygiene but a relaxing luxury. Today’s life is easy and we do not have to take all the pains the mughals took to have a relaxing bath. The simplest thing you can do is to buy yourself a Kohler Fountainhead VibrAcoustic Bath. Interestingly, this system works on sound waves, music and LED lighting. The tub has a control panel located at the side of the tub, apart from having a remote control.

There are features to control the temperature of water or to add or remove water from the tub, all at a click of a button. More than that, you can also adjust the sound waves, the volume and the type of music and also the brightness of the light. Kohler Fountainhead VibrAcoustic Bath is reasonably priced $9000, considering the innovative features that it offers.

The Nautilus: Non-Wet Waterbed Enhances Your Relaxing Experience!
Posted in Bath Accessories, Concept, Designer on 23 June 2008

The Nautilus

They say water soothes every height of fatigue then why don’t we prefer to stay on a waterbed after a long tiring day at work? I think the argument deserves a thought. Something within is forcing me to tag it as “WaterBed,” with a difference. Called ‘the Nautilus,” this potential concept by designer Sandra de Miguel, Xavier Arbones, Alvaro Bermudez and Marta Fernandez address a new meaning to the upcoming bathroom designs. Enhancing your levels of relaxation, it unites the contemporary technology with the conventional relaxation remedy via hot bath. The Nautilus, if ever turns a reality would allow you a float over water without being wet.

If eager to plunge then turn on the tap that allows fresh water to pour in on acme of the mat while the water below flows out. Eager to revamp your bathroom into a paradise, the designers’ have worked out the accessibility of the tactile technology on the taps whilst the wardrobe apparatus use infrared sensors.
