After “Michelangelo, The Dotta Mano” (Michelangelo, the main scholarly), it’s “La Dotta Mano” (the learned hand) for art lovers. The name ‘Michelangelo’ is being refreshed in our minds with the efforts of Marilena Ferrari, its Italian publisher who thinks books are losing their identity due to the Internet which is acting as its nemesis. An extravagant, 62-pound handmade tome depicting the life and work of Michelangelo has arrived at the New York Public Library, fresh from publication in Italy. The book is filled with photographs of Michelangelo’s drawings and sculptures — creations from the Sistine Chapel ceiling to his very personal poetry. The velvet- and marble-bound, most expensive book - “La Dotta Mano” will go on public display this coming Tuesday morning through Dec. 8.

Motoart is perhaps the one and only organisation to utilize vintage aviation parts into cool looking furniture for both home as well as office. And they have to thank LA based designer Giancarlo De Astis for his creativity and zest to pick airplane parts dumped in Arizona junkyards and convert them into elegant fixtures.
You will be surprised to what an artistic brush can do to discarded flaps, wings, canopies, turbines and other aircraft parts. Well, Astis can give them a second life in the form of desks, tables, credenzas, cabinets and lamps. Some of his most appreciated creations include the Latro Primo desk, the Lo Squalo club chair and the Solo conference table.

Passionate drivers just hate stoplights! And if you belong to the clan, this is something just for you! Knowing how to time stoplights is a key element to driving, you don’t want to stop completely at every stoplight just when it’s going to turn green immediately. That’s a waste of fuel! What you want is to slow down just enough to catch the light as its turning green again. Now that’s what’s called the efficient way to drive and you would agree too.
Well, Audi is currently testing out an ingenious system that would tell you exactly when lights you’re approaching are set to change. The project “Travolution” networks cars with traffic signals wirelessly, showing you exactly when the upcoming light is going to change and how fast you should be going to clear it. Smart! Now how and when this project completes and meets us, one can only eagerly wait. This will not only improve fuel efficiency, but it should make traffic flow a lot smoother.
How awesome would it be if this became standard in all cars and on all roads? But one thing’s for sure-one’s it’s here, its here to stay. Till then do we have something to update us on how long or soon is this project getting the green signal for itself?

Barbie dolls have been loved and loathed at the same time. It is every young gal’s definition of beauty and that is precisely what bothers a number of thinkers. Ablue Eyed fantasy that all children want to fulfill! Reminds me of Morrison’s The Bluest Eyes. Well, the manufacturers cant be least bothered! They have recently sold an Angelina Jolie doll for $3,000 on eBay. The doll is designed and created by Noel Cruz who is himself a fan of Jolie. The doll has Jolie’s pout lips as well as Jolie’s mole on her forehead.

Right now, the company has not decided to have more Jolie dolls but the trend may soon catch up to have Hollywood icons on the range. Who knows, the next model for Ken could very well be Jolie’s hubby Brad Pitt!!

A true artist never lets an experience go waste. The challenge of the art is to immortalize what appeals to heart, through art. That is what Amy Rice did after she got inspiration from seeing beautiful Zinnias flowers blooming all over. She made Zinnia flowers the theme of a complete range of furnishings including tables, chairs and boards. All this reminds me of the painted leaf in O Henry’s Last Leaf; true to life, these flowers can lighten your mood anytime.

Those who wish to have a complete kitchen set up installed (a revised definition of complete) shall read further, others can feel free to skip. The presence of the cooking board I am going to talk about would offer a high-tech look and feel element to the otherwise mundane kitchen. Nardo Design’s new high-tech Digital Cutting Board that infuses a new lease of life into the kitchen cutting board. The cooking instructions are popped up on the integrated detachable LCD display, thereby leaving no space for the imperfection to the dish being cooked. It also gives you access to the downloaded recipes, in case you want to experiment with.
Staring figuring this: All these facilities right your kitchen shelf. All chefs should thank Marc Nardangeli, a design student and creative mind behind this production. The cutting board rests upon comfy rubber feet that support an acrylic board. The acrylic board controls the inner mechanism to run the flexible LCD panel and the compact kit comes potted with a security tempered glass panel that allows finger based, touch screen processing. They say even this device allows the cutting board to download the cooking recipes. On both ends, it has stylish chromium handles.
Now, its eco-friendly touch can better be understood with its components counting the lead and bromide free circuit board and the non-toxic chromium handle. Bottom line: It is still a concept with an extensive potential for functionality. Our eyes are all glued upon the news of its hitting the kitchenware market.
