Till date we have been welcoming futuristic creation of homes by various designers. How about lending attention to Microsoft’s reflection of the “Home of the Future A software company took it as an opportunity to create a mock home that fits well the title of technology-driven home for tomorrow. The home erected at their campus in Redmond, Washington is now 15 years old but the topical restoration sports Microsoft’s prophecy of how household electronics and amenities should look and can look in coming years.
Through the mock model, it has been clearly conveyed that everything in this home runs on a central network together with cell phones and even home’s doorbell located as nodes on that network. The entry of family members to the home is easily identified by their mobile devices and hence they receive a warm welcome. Equipped with the RFID factor, virtually everything in this home is embedded with radio-frequency-identification technology. There is also a possibility of installing a system, which understands the need for scattered things to go back where it belongs. At kitchen front, while pulling out the needed appliances and ingredients, the “smart kitchen†can sense what they are about to make and hence helps them by enabling the countertop display the recipe.
But this is not all. In order to maintain its exclusivity, Microsoft’s future home does not consist of walls and surfaces covered with PC monitors and screens.

Geeks like a geeky touch in every single product that is a part of their day-to-day lifestyle. And besides riding in the company of unique gadgets and workstation being surrounded by feature-packed accessories, a nerd would feel blessed to take his meal on a Pong dinner table. The table is holding a great reverence to all gadget lovers and in a way is paying a tribute to the video game that revolutionized the gaming industry long back. Thanks to designer Moritz Waldemeyer, who has designed this Corian table by embedding it with 2,400 LED lights plus quite a few trackpads, thereby giving this 1972 Atari game a contemporary appeal. For sure, the price attached would be a single digit followed by a few zeros.

Colors indicate one’s mood and add to this the touch of bling to witness a beguiling upshot. The case in point is well exemplified by the latest offering of Swarovski-Crystal carpeting and 24k gold cork mosaic at DOMOTEX Middle East 2008 in the ‘Designers Corner.’ This seems to be the come-back of reigning days of Moghuls and Emperors, who can’t compromise but to have a filthy-rich lifestyle. Installing this gold-bathed flooring would enlighten your sense and bring warmth to your abode. I strongly believe that this opulent offering is not everyone’s cake as would tune well with the manors feeding guests with gold or silver spoon. Feel free to give your wild imagination a shape that maintains the durability of this flooring. It would surely be a blessing for your beloved’s feet.

Again a new concept but this time wishing it to turn reality can be put you on toss. Called The WaSnake shelf, it is a revolutionary concept by designer Jean Louis Frechin. The shelf is anticipated to not only accommodate stuff but display your SMS and news after picking them from RSS feeds. Structured using wood and elastomeric, the shelf is flexible enough to be instated in any given geography.
With such a flexible configuration, it would surely be welcomed to feature the necessary details viz. addresses, phone number at home. But likewise any other product, it has its own grays attached. The concept highlighting text via cluster of colored LEDs and optical threads would be displayed at the International Milan furniture show.

Connected to the computer, this system serves as an interface for selecting and creating information and also serves as a medium for direct physical contact, by which users choose various display protocols. But I choose to ignore the usage of this product but as the visual illustration of this artistic device can really screw up your life. I am not in a mood to let my naughty text messages being broadcasted to anyone and everyone. I wish this concept remains a concept.

If you are having a window-less office and suddenly feels suffocated then here is a solution. Put down the mallet and install these ersatz skylights or seemingly windows right from the Sky Factory. The variety of sky ceilings and radiant virtual windows offered here are picturesque chimera that offers a beautiful outdoor appeal (albeit virtual) to the inhabitants while staying in windowless den only.

How does it work? After fitting in every unit into the typical ceiling or window grid structure, it breeds fluorescent or LED daylight-balanced backlighting to equally augment the gaze besides promoting a sense of well-being. You would be surprised to know that the daylight balanced light used here is one that is required to treat seasonal affective disorder.

I am sure installing these in a gloomy ambiance of your office would make your productivity go two-fold. Also, if you are thinking to revamp your office or home interiors then there cannot be an innovative way than this.
