Jumbo Jet in a Bedroom
Posted in Aircraft, Luxury, Plane, Technology on 21 October 2007

 Boeing 747

It is somewhat surprising, isn’t it? But, this has been made a reality by John Davis who is just too crazy about planes. He has actually made a dream come true by building an ‘aircraft’ in his bedroom. Just imagine you can wander across the world even while sitting in you room. It is just incredible. The flight deck of £15,000 is actually worth the price. His enthusiasm, courage and dexterity are really inspiring.

The simulator claims of recreating the feel and sound of Boeing 747. This great and passionate man has spent around 7 years to make the simulator as authentic as he could. He ensured the design of his jumbo jet by studying it on the aviation websites.
He declares that the software of the simulator has the facility of recreating natural landscapes of any place in the world including the Alps, the skyline of New York, and the like.

It is really so interesting that I want to grab the opportunity to witness this innovative technology.

After its flight to Singapore and then Changi Airport, the plane will make its first commercial flight to Sydney on 25 October. At an investment of $13 billion, this double-decker aircraft took more than seven years.

Airbus A380

True, its entry is the after the gap of two-years behind the scheduled year of 2005 but this feature-packed revolutionary jetliner justify the delay. The plane has been discovered as a highly fuel-efficient aircraft offering silent cabin in all large passenger jets. The entry of the jet is like a golden feather to the existing fleet of Singaporean airlines.

Airbus A380

The front side of the plane is equipped with 12 first class luxury groups with each offering elite amenities including a proper bed, a 23-inch flat panel TV, working table, a lounge chair and epicurean food. Out of the 12, two suites are privileged with double bed facility.

For the business class, the upper deck accommodates 60 passengers on unique seats that can be molded into a horizontal bed. Around 399 seats are offered for economy class spread over both decks, assuring even the lowest ticket to the jet would be offered the comfort of leg room and knee room.

Airbus A380

Singapore Airlines showed its interest in A380 when it was just a concept in September 2000. The placed order of 10 A380s was increased to 15 and then 19 in July 2006. For this value addition, the order of 19 jets including engines and sundry would cost $5.7 billion. Airbus is prepared to deliver the order of 13 planes to Singapore Airlines, Emirates Airlines and Quantas by 2008, 25 in 2009, and 45 in 2010.

Posted in Aircraft, Designer, Luxury on 13 October 2007

Terrafugia Transition

New models and entrants aim to give a lively feel to the Flying Car industry. Following the experiences of Super Sky Cycle, Moller’s M200G Volantor, Urban Aeronautics’ X-Hawk and on-going production of PAL-V flying car, the upcoming model in the queue is the Terrafugia Transition flying car. It’s been two-years that this flying car has created a buzz in the minds of the travelers’ but now their curiosity can be calmed down in next year. Lately, a team of MIT alums featured its folding wing at the annual AirVenture aviation festival in Oshkosh, WI.

This light-weighted sport aircraft performed to the expectations of the engineers as it opened and closed over 500 times. This can be seen as a hope for the MIT scientists towards the success of the aero-auto hybrid vehicles, thereby offering an answer to the present problems. The next challenge before the team is the construction of a powerful engine to support the flying of $1,48,000 Terrafugia Transition on the ground and in the air as well.
