Ruby Slippers

When I heard about a shoes selling for a grand sum like this, I automatically assumed that it has to be something like Cinderella’s glass slippers that her fairy god mother gifted her. Little did I imagine that it would be a little Dorothy Gale’s shoes instead! Judy Garland, in the timeless classic The Wizard of Oz walked around in a pair beautiful ruby red shoes. The shoes look eye catching enough ot catch the attention of any one, believe me. They will be on sale at Saks Fifth Avenue, New York if you plan to go for window shopping atleast. In total there are 5 pairs that were worn by the actress in the movie.

They are expected to be sold for over $1000. Why not go ahead and try these shoes on the way Cinderella did it, may be it will fit you well and will become yours forever!

Elite Handbag: $22,900 Gucci Crocodile Bag
Posted in Fashion, Handbags on 6 September 2008

Gucci Crocodile Bag

Well, I am not against luxury products but the only criteria is that the thing should be worth the price. For a regular crocodile bad, I am never going to spend $22,900. But that is exactly what Gucci expects us to do. Now let me ask them, just because I have money do you think I will buy any over-priced thing? Or perhaps I am being over critical of this triangular crocodile pelham shopper bag. The bad does look fantastic to me but not worth the price, to be sure. It’s available in crocodile dark green having braided straps, a tab-snap closure, having useful zipped pockets.

The size of the bad is 19.3″ x 5.1″ x 11″, large enough to accommodate it’s an attractive and generously sized bag but I must aevery woman’s need. Apart from the ouch!, hurting price tag of $22,900, the bag seems to be perfect!

Virtual Mirror To Replace Trial Rooms!
Posted in Designer, Fashion, News on 29 August 2008

Virtual Mirror

The hullabalo created by men of woman being addicted to shopping is an overt sign of their being envious and a way to hide their unfashionable personae. But ask we woman what all pain we undergo to meet our shopping spree. And upon entering a designer showroom, the aching thought of trying outfits after chasing an unending queue outside trial room almost kills us.

But still hope infuses life into us and we finally rush into the changing room. But within no time, we find ourselves amidst rows of designer dresses and this time picking quite a few with a strong conviction that time we would surely fit in one of those. But no….hot dogs, pasta and other junk food we have had in past is now showing its colors demanding us to look for a size bigger than the last tried. And the process continues until we could manage to find our kind of dress.

Will you believe me that now you don’t have to follow this routine and dull exercise at the same time assuring that you are investing $$$$ for a right outfit. Yes, this would be soon possible via virtual mirror that is expected to shun the need of a trial room.

The ‘Virtual mirror’ enables you see yourself wearing the to-be-picked outfits without even putting off your clothes. Here you go: Put on the T-shirt given by the magic mirror machinist and then opt the design by inserting the particular design insignia on the T shirt. The exhibit then trails the movement of the wearer and records the design of the new attires via its logo and portrays the outlines precisely on the wearer to give the mirror-iamge of what he/she is wearing. Currently, the Virtual Mirror is finding it difficult to produce a pragmatic inkling of T-shirts, shirts or sweaters in an implicit mirror. The technology doing the needful uses composite algorithms to generate 3D images in real-time giving the delusion that the wearer has really put those clothes on.

Ready to be Killed: Bulletproof Clothing by Miguel Caballero
Posted in Designer, Fashion on 31 July 2008

Bulletproof Clothing

The rising crime rate in the world can be seen as a reason for Miguel Caballero’s having deep pockets. Engaged into designing bulletproof clothing for past 16-years, the Colombian designer maintains its charm in high-security fashion by unveiling various revolutionary offerings. With all efforts invested to have a security shield without missing on style, Miguel lately unveiled his novel collection detailing blazers, slickers and suede jackets, some sated with a reassuring stab-proof coating at his London department store Harrods. The collection aims at offering three levels of ballistic defense to its proud holders.

Few of the apparels include a polo shirt that can endure a whack from a 9-mm handgun valued at $7,500 whilst another version costing $9,800 shields wearers from mechanical weapons, counting mini-Uzis. If figures do make a difference to you then it generated sales of $9 million in 2007. The Caballero-secured clothing is now becoming the choice of high-profile clients i.e. King Abdullah of Jordan, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez and actor Stephen Segal. Mind you, the elite clan loves security and style as they have a heart to spill over the hidden cost involved.

This space pays tribute to all random opulent thingamajigs and taking a customary call on this, today we would like to introduce you with the world’s most expensive necktie that got unveiled in 2003. No, the news is not stale as it has made up to the headlines with the recent update. Designed by Satya Paul and the Suashish Diamond Group, the silk base of the tie carried by Salman Khan comes festooned with 261 diamonds weighing 77 carats and 150 grams of gold and was valued at Rs1 crore in 2003. Lately, a revision in its cost has happened and it is being discovered that the cost of the necktie has now risen to Rs10 million or $220,000. Gawd, I wonder if ordinary folks besides celebrities and industry moguls can afford to buy one or would they find themselves restricted to window shopping? Well, if you ask me then spending this many such creations may seem a routine for people with big pockets but I would like to go with a plain silk tie with a diamond chip layering or gold lining.

Posted in Designer, Fashion, Handbags on 11 July 2008

Mulberry Mirrored Bayswater Bag

While two years back, Mulberry was on the cards of trendsettlers with its offering of the original Bayswater Bag but little hint was thrown about its Mulberry engaged in delivering its mirrored edition. It is gaudy, dazzling, vivid and hence a diva with a bold personality can only do some favor to this creation. The outer face of the Mulberry Mirrored Bayswater Bag comes layered with gold mirrored leather, the handbag doesn’t compromise at the ordinary features of a bag detailing the flap closure with clasp enabling you to lock the tiny bolt that comes expediently concealed in the pocket appeal that dangles off the grip. But like I have been saying no piece of luxury comes cheap and following this, the handbag is retailed for $1,595.

Most Expensive Abaya

You are wrong if you think that only revealing and trendy silhouettes gets an invitation to undergo a blingy treatment and within no time evolve in their shining new avatar. Whilst Triumph Luxurious Diamond Thong layered with countless diamonds may seem a confrontation to my argument but the news about World’s Most Expensive Abaya, a traditional form of Islamic dress stands high to defend it. Abaya, the simplest form of dressing accepted by Islamic religion was picked by British couture designer Bruce Oldfield. The bejeweled Abaya features 4,668 diamonds weighing 359.7 grams of white gold. Bruce in association with Crosley Diamonds based in London has unveiled this luxury called World’s Most Expensive Abaya.

They say the deluxe Abaya is expected to be sold off at The Gulf Luxury Trade falling coming month for $350,000. The sales generated would be donated towards the relief charity “Islamic Relief.” Popularly known electronic violinist and former model Linzi Stoppard is the proud foremost person to don it.
