And here is another record-breaking painting auction. Featured above is a 1927 painting identified as ‘Blue Star’ (1893-1983). This beautiful creation by a prominent Spanish artist Joan Miro lately got sold for 11.6 million Euros ($16.7 million) in Paris against its expected price of $10mn.
Auctioneers claim to label it as the highest price earned by Miro for his creation. Miro also welcomed this much-deserving price fetched by this core production. Other artistic creation auctioned here belongs to Picasso, Juan Gris, Leger, and Laurens that generated a total sale of 21.8 million Euros. Miro’s another creation called ‘Bird’ earned him 6.2 million Euros.

While you all sitting on other corner would be celebrating Valentine day by exchanging Red Roses, artists on the other end are deeply engroseesd in doping some charity. Known as bad boy amongst the British artist communuity, Damien Hirst together with U2 musician Bono and his RED organization has invited 100 contemporary works from dozens of renowned artists to be donated at the “The (RED) Auction,” a Valentine day auction scheduled on 14 February to support the HIV-AIDS programs in Africa. Besides being the lead singer of the Irish rock band, Bono is the co- founder of RED. The charity auction is expected to generate a sale of $40 million. The artwork was previewed at Sotheby’s London-based auction house before marching to New York.
The auction features around $13.6 million of artwork donated by Hirst including a $7 million pill cabinet. Hirst is able to gain the interest of artists viz. Keith Tyson, Michael Craig-Martin, Jeff Koons, Jasper Johns, Matthew Barney, Georg Baselitz, Cecily Brown and Douglas Gordon for the socila cause.

The auction earnings will be donated to the United Nations Foundation’s fund to support HIV/AIDS programs in Africa. After inking a $100 mn deal for diamond skull, Hirst here takes the initiate for donating seven works to the charity auction. Hirst’s pill cabinet, named “Where There’s a Will There’s a Way,” is packed with red-shaded antiretroviral drugs and is a replica of the colored pills that sold for $19.2 million in June.
Hirst also added a 214-centimeter red heart festooned dead butterflies stuck in gloss paint titled, “All You Need Is Love,” which is expected to generate $1.5 million along with a red circular work, “Beautiful RED Spin Painting,” to fetch $800,000.

Hirst, who worked on the auction for more than a year, is a friend of Bono, Tyrrell said. Hurst another painting “HIV Aids, Drugs Combination” is priced at $450-650,000 at Sotheby’s auction house.

Bank of America Corp. would be selling two of Wyeth paintings to generate around $1 million plus to support three New York-based nonprofit groups counting a parks restoration project originated by Bette Midler. The art work includes N.C. Wyeth’s “Port Clyde, Maine” ($600,000-top) and other by his son Andrew “The New Table,” ($350,000-second from top).

Recognized as the second-largest U.S. bank, it will put four-paintings to the Sotheby’s auction block from its huge art collection on 28 Nov.

The other two paintings include Oscar Berninghaus’s “Opening the West (Stagecoach Through the Missouri Hills-third from top)” and William Trost Richards’s “Newport Beach”. Each of these is anticipated to produce sales of $250,000 (featured below).

After a rough calculation, it is been witnessed if the paintings meet their pre-auction estimate then together the quad-artwork would raise $1.45 million.

Here comes autumn and auction houses are bombarded with an array of old-aged, contemporary artwork that is eternal in nature. A hoard of Asian art, Chinese jade and porcelain is set to go under hammer at Christie’s auction house on 28 October in Hong Kong. “Danshui at Sunset,” a calm Taiwan port oil painting by Chen Cheng-Po might earn the label of being the most expensive Chinese paintings ever sold at an auction.

Amidst gamut of paintings ready to earn another history for renowned painters by reaching auction block, ‘BlueStar’ is a new entrant’. Featured above is a creation by Spanish painter Joan Miro, called ‘Blue star’. The painting depicts 10 pieces signed by Picasso, Leger, Juan Gris and Miro, which was preserved in a coffer for 40 years. I think this is sufficient to describe its beauty and worth. It would be auctioned on 21 December 2007, at the Aguttes auction house in Paris. The painting by Joan Miro is anticipated to fetch 7 million Euros ($10 mn).

And here comes another $5.4mn tag to the generation of sales made by Sotheby. But more than that the news is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth I that was anticipated to be sold for 1 million pounds by its holder lately fetched more than double its expected i.e. 2.6 million pounds ($5.4 million) at a scheduled auction in London on 22 November. Reputed and well-known celebrity was accredited as Virgin Queen who ruled England beautifully and the very angle with which the painting is been drawn seems to convey that Elizabeth I is eyeing the prospective bidder. Spokesman from Sotheby’s auction house also said that the sale of Queen Elizabeth I sketch has set a record for the English royal portrait.
This portrait dates back to 1560s and was handed over to Griffith Hampden, the sheriff of Buckinghamshire by the queen on her visit to Hampden House. It is also been said that the much-needed oil for the painting was given by the queen to the Hampden family. Word is around that the portrait was painted by the Antwerp artist Steven van der Meulen. And the proud owner of the portrait is Mould who overshadowed the London dealer Mark Weiss by overbidding for this life-sized portrait of Elizabeth I. The very day was chosen for the sale of the 18th-century women Kitty Fisher, a creation by artist Sir Joshua Reynolds but it is still unsold.

Gone are the summer auctions. Now auction houses and proud owners of antique masterpieces are busy populating auction shelves with their valuables, thus generating big bucks out of it. One of the auction products that have created a buzz is one of Vincent Van Gogh’s last landscapes and a Turner masterpiece that was thought to have been lost. Bamborough Castle was last seen in 1889 but now it has being publicized by reaching Sotheby’s auction block and its sale is scheduled for 5 December in London.
Turner is identified as Britain’s greatest water-colorist and his creation Bamburgh Castle depicts 20 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, on the edge of the North Sea, in the mid-1830s. Before getting lost, the painting was with Vanderbilt family in 1890, where it stayed for more than a few generations. This artwork has gained deserving recognition as one of the premium watercolour sketch globally and is anticipated to fetch $3-5 million.

A fragmentary sketch owned by the Bowood Estate is expected to fetch up to £3m at an auction scheduled on 22 November in London. The plot of the oil painting produced in the 1760s by artist Sir Joshua Reynolds is the women Kitty Fisher from the 18th Century. The portrait was with the Lansdowne family since past 150 years. Later it was bought by the third Marquess of Lansdowne in May 1846. Lord Lansdowne (1780-1863) shaped a grand chronicles and art collection at Bowood and now thanks to its trustees who have made an effort to put this painting up for auction.
Kitty Fisher was commemorated in the kindergarten rhyme, Lucy Locket and Reynolds produced her portrait at least four times. As per the Dictionary of National Biography the rumors claim that they were in love. If you asked about Kitty Fisher from auctioneers at Sotheby’s who are engaged with the sale then they consider it as an object of pleasure for men and this is what Reynolds has rightly portrayed her.

Portrait of celebrated movie star Queen Elizabeth I has been anticipated to fetch 1 million pounds ($2 million) at a Sotheby’s auction house in London on 22 November. Antwerp artist Steven van der Meulen created queen’s portrayal in 1560s. On her visit to Hampden House, this 16th-Century queen handed over her sketch to Griffith Hampden and it has now reached auction house by Hampden trust.
Elizabeth, who reigned England from 1558 till she was alive i.e. 1603 was known as the virgin queen as she stayed unmarried throughout. Her feature film depicts her gamut of love affairs. Unlike celebrities, art, antiques, paintings, statues become more precious as they grow old. While for some it becomes a passion, necessity or investment for others it becomes an outrageous flaunting. But no to forget as their also exist a category where people love to owe such creation to value their sense of reminiscence. And yes, the passion is not restricted to masterpieces as a deserving respect is paid to publication of any bestseller.
Featured above is a first Playboy Cartoon that falls in the latter category. In 1953, Ben Denison initiated the foundation of an ever-lasting custom by producing the first Playboy cartoon that shortly included artists of the caliber of Eldon Dedini, Jules Feiffer, Shel Silverstein and Gahan Wilson. The worth noticing heritage auction is scheduled for 12 December in Dallas. It is estimated to invite bids worth $12,000 to $18,000.
